Circa 1944
A BIT OF HISTORY: Yesterday I received a $1 Silver Certificate along with some other singles when I broke a $20 bill. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that it had "Pacific Area Short Snorter - Coral Sea, 30 November 1944." It was made by LT R.B. Hall, VR-13, and signed on the back by LT Worth A. Brown; J. L. Sturgis, Navy 167; Mark or Mick S. Reed; and three others that I can't make out. There is also a reference to "Hollandia." On the front, there are signatures from Paul C. Walters; M. L. Lilliboe; Helen Ganan???; Anne M. ???; and one other signature that I can't make out. Thought you folks might find it interesting...Philip Tedesco philiptedesco@sbcglobal.net..." [04SEP2005]
