 	Ice-covered island about 1 mi long, lying midway between Cape Petersen and 
	Dyer Point and about 2 mi off the N coast of Thurston Island. Delineated from 
	air photos taken by USN Squadron VX-6 in January 1960. 
	
	Named by US-ACAN for Frederick W. Williams, aviation machinist's mate with USN 
	Operation Highjump, who lost his life in a seaplane crash at Thurston Island 
	on Dec. 30, 1946.
